My hair dresser styled it so there is Paul Mitchell styling stuff in it.

I just want the gel out not the perm.

Also..will putting my hair up ruin the curls?

If you put water in it your curls will be permanelty weakend. You just spent money on your perm do not ruin it. Deal with the gel. You can wash it out after a few days.

Yes, putting your hair up will also weaken your curls. They'll be flat at the root if you put it up!!!

There is a product from Herbal Essences called "Degunkify". It will get all of the product out with out ruining the perm!

You should be o.k just use shampoo for permed hair...and you hair will bounce back to curls when it gets wet if you put it up or blow it out...

Just make sure you use a really great conditioner.

Wash it in a mild shampoo, don't scrub to hard. The perm will stay. Don't worry about the curls, they are there and will remain until the perm wears off. Just wash and let it dry. You will be OK.

You aren't suppose to wash your hair, but you can at least rinse it out for now. Just act like your washing your hair if you're in the shower and then just put a light hair serum it in for now. Once you can wash it, use a clarifying shampoo and a good moisturizing conditioner (so your hair won't dry out). Then to activate your curls use a light gel and a light mist hair spray. That way you can style your hair, but you won't feel like there's so much product in it. =)
