I'm pretty sure every hairdresser in the world would know what you were talking about if you described it. Then she could bring out the colour book and pick the shades of blonde and brown you wanted.

If your going somewhere professional, say you want to dye your hair "peek-a-boo" style. Say the you want blonde on top and brown underneath. They should no what a peek-a-boo is though. If not, show them this picture:
