How much will peroxide damage my hair?

I've currently got medium brown hair and have never gone lighter befor!

I'm booked in to my hair dressers on Thurday to have a full head of blonde highlights (apparantly using 12% peroxide, i have no idea what this means!), but what can i expect to happen to the condition of my hair? I don't want to end up with dry brittle hair!!

Any help or advice would be appriciated!!??

peroxide will f*uc*k your hair up big time if you dont stick to the roots. let your hairdresser colour it all over this once then just touch up your roots every 6-8 weeks alway use a weekly hair treatmant

12% is high and it does damage your hair ... your hair will become porous ie retain water and unless you super condition it will become like straw.. it is a risk and i am paying the price i went full head platnium last month and i have major broken hair at the front so i am having to go back again and have a recolour completely different as it is badly damaged ... So long as you condition when you wash your hair and supercondition once a week should be fine .. i just had a bad colourist who left it on a little longer than required .. speak to them before you take the plunge .. it is worth it as blonde is a lovely colour although very high matienance i get my roots done every 5 weeks dont forget you will need to change your makeup too
