How do i apply hair extensions without doing a training course?

all my friends want hair extensions but its so expensive to get it done at the hair dressers. I would love to be able to apply hair extensions, but how do i do it without going on an expensive training course? i would like to know how i apply pre-boned hair extensions and the ones with the links that you just push together to secure the extenstion to the hair.... how do i parten the hair? do i just parten half the hair and only do one line or do i parten the hair a few times to add different lengths? what tools do i need for each method?

Wow!

Applying hair extensions is kind of serious business. Depending on which method you use, some are easier than others, I'll tell you that much... You can cause alopecias, baldness, scalp irritations, etc., unintentionally cause the client to lose part or sections of their own natural hair, tear or injure the skin on your client's scalp, or damage the client's own personal hair if you're using any of the bonding methods...

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying that you have to take the training course, but maybe YOU should go to a salon and get them yourself so you can personally see how it's done, what it feels like, and so forth. Then maybe you would have a leg to stand on when you begin experimenting on your victims, er, I mean friends. Hehe. (Kidding)

Good luck, be well, and try to get some first-hand information before you get them into your chair. =)

unless you already know how to do it you can't without the training course

This is very diffucult to do and you need to be trained.

Why don't you invest a little money into this and once you are qualified you can charge people for doing their hair extentions for less than what salons charge? That way you are helping your friends (and other people) and earn a little money too and eventually there will be return on your investment. I'm quite certain that if you want to do a hair extention course then you need to have completed your hair dressing qualifications beforehand. But you should be trained because things can go wrong if you just start applying hair extentions...

with glue and a blow lamp

It really would be best for you to look into doing a course. It isn't as easy as it looks. Hence why trained hairdressers don't usually train until their already qualified.

If you do want to experiment on friends i'd recommend the temporary extensions on the market. They come in long strips, and are sewn together at the top.

You part the hair depending on where you want the extension to fall to, and cut a section of the extension, about 1 inch pieces. Then dip the end into glue, hold onto the parting and blowdry untill the glue has set.

Personally i wouldnt bother using glue, try Sebastian's Xtah range. They do a product called Bondage, which works just as well as glue.

Of course this is temporary extension, and isn't really suited for full head extensions.

But like previously mentioned, leave full head extension to the proffessionals
