The ethos of this idea is to make this age group more independent and more prepared for life away from Mammy and Daddy鈥檚 purse-strings. It should also instil a degree of pride in the person to WANT to make something of their own potential - whether it join the Armed Forces, or become a hair-dresser - both trades equally needed by the Community.

At the moment this age group are joining the Armed Forces without a clue of how to live independently of Mammy and Daddy鈥檚 back-up. Today鈥檚 Armed Forces just do not have the time to turn these youngsters into independent people with a full sense of self-worth - only time to churn out more cannon-fodder to replace the thousands of experienced troops that were demobbed YEARS before their time because Tony Blair assumed his Premiership would be the one that would never have to send 鈥渁ny children鈥?UNQUOTE Into war.. And we know yet again, how wrong his words have become.

Many US states have vocational schools students can attend. Usually they can choose to attend in junior or senior HS years, such as in my state. I think it's a great idea. Some states have had them in operation since the 1960's. Also the Feds have groups like Americorps and other training programs teens can use to prepare themselves for their futures. As for the UK, I don't know what you have available. I would hope that you would have some measure of vocational skills training in your curriculum.

sounds to me like somebody has pinched the policy idea of the christian lionheart party, this typeof poicy is about twelve years old, exept that it is our policy to use x millitary personel to teach leadership qualities and love of country ect. in all schools, permanant millitary staff with their own classes. not neccesarily to join armed forces, but as you have said. but we would couple with this, greater spiritual knowledge, and behaviour refinements, similar to finishing schools for boys and girls in all schools.
